A Voice for Healthy Living

Health Club Radio - A Voice for Healthy Living
With Health Club Radio, I want to initiate an ongoing conversion, not only as a dietitian and health counselor but also as a mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend, where a variety of important issues get addressed, like health, lifestyle, weight loss, eating habits, stress, sleep and more.

Conversations About
Lifestyle, Health, Good Food and Fun

I call it a “conversation” because I look forward to inviting lots of guests with many professional backgrounds and from all walks of life on my program. I also want to discuss nutrition- and health-related topics as they make headlines in the press.

When people ask me who my intended audience is, I say – everybody who wants to be healthy. While I have neither the interest nor the professional qualification to dispense medical advice the way you can find it on commercial radio talk shows or daytime TV, I do address dietary concerns and diet-related health matters in great detail. As a registered dietitian of almost twenty years, both clinical and in private practice, I am certainly qualified to do so.

My inspiration, however, does not always come from the state of the art of my profession, but most often from the everyday health concerns of my clients and the people who send me their e-mails every day. Men and women who are confronted with the need for weight loss, parents who are worried about their kids’ eating habits, young professional adults who find themselves under tremendous stress at work and often don’t know how to take care of their health, seniors who undergo tremendous lifestyle changes – these are the ones I want to listen and talk to.

Naturally, there must also be time for some fun. I love meeting with chefs, restaurateurs, wine-makers, sommeliers and other culinary experts. Since I’m a great fan of travel, I keep finding incredibly interesting and talented people all over the world. I remember enjoying one of my best gourmet meals ever on a photo safari in the South African bush. The chef was not only a great artist, he was also a great conversationalist – on camera and off. In India, I had the chance to accompany a very famous hotel chef to the local food market where we bought the most exotic ingredients I had ever seen. Needless to say, after hours of skillful preparation, we also ate them – with great gusto.

These and countless other stories make for great memories, and since I have them on tape, I look forward to sharing them with you. So stay tuned. I would be very pleased and honored to have you as a regular listener. I also want to encourage you to send me your own comments, questions and ideas. Together we can give a voice to healthy living.
